Shanklin divides neatly into two. The Old Village sits at the top of the cliff - thatched cottages, a chine with a waterfall, and a heritage trail that has drawn visitors since the Victorian era. The poet Keats stayed here in 1819. The lower town has a working high street, a long sandy beach, and a cable car connecting the two. Lake, to the north, is effectively a residential suburb sitting between Sandown and Shanklin with good bus links and a more affordable price point. Luccombe is a small wooded hamlet on the cliff edge above the Landslip, quiet and largely unchanged. Properties for sale in Shanklin and the PO37 area cover a wide range, from first-time buyer flats in Lake to period character homes in the Old Village.
